The Park
We were in a park near a lake...
…on a white blanket spread out on lush green grass. Not crunchy grass, mind you, but fresh grass, like spring, that is soft to the touch.
To our right is an inlet of the lake with a small wooden bridge over top of it; to our left of is a medium sized tree.
The lake is calm; you can see the other shore.
It is a clear night and without any city lights you can see millions of stars.
I am sitting up to your left-hand side and you, you are laying down.
I am wearing a white skirt that falls very close to my knees and a navy blue sleeveless shirt that shows off a very plunging neckline. My toe nails are painted a light shade of metallic-pink and my hair is pulled up into a ponytail with stray locks of hair that have slipped out.
You are wearing a pair of medium blue jeans and a short sleeved black tee shirt.
We both have bare feet and our shoes are placed to the right side of the blanket.
You reach up with your left hand and in one fluid motion pull the elastic band out of my hair, letting it fall softly around my shoulders, midway down my back.
You continue to tangle your fingers in my hair as a cool breeze blows in off the lake, raising goosebumps on my arms.
So I lay back into you - resting my head on your chest, using your body heat to warm me.
With your left-hand, you fingers begin to lightly...
…ever-so very lightly…
… trace my leg, the pads of your fingers making brief contact with my skin.
Up to my mid-thigh and back down again.
You bring your right-arm over and begin to do the same thing to my left arm - tracing up and onto my neck, lingering ever so softly on my lips before moving down to my collarbone; brushing the strands of hair that have fallen there out of your way.
